Winning Ticket

Steve was just a regular guy leading a pretty regular life. The mornings blended together in a haze of alarm clock beeps, predictability, and the faint smell of coffee that lingered at the corner cafĂ© he frequented. The daily grind consisted of spreadsheets, deadlines, and the occasional jaunt to the break room for donuts. But today, on the way to work, he felt a whimsical impulse to buy a scratch-off lottery ticket from the gas station. It was a brief decision, a fleeting moment that would ripple through the fabric of his ordinary existence. “Why not?” he murmured to himself, handing the clerk a crumpled five-dollar bill. The ticket was flashy, emblazoned with the words “WIN BIG!” and showcasing a grand prize of $75,000. “Dream big or go home,” he chuckled, tucking the ticket into his pocket before stepping back into the crisp morning air. At work, the world continued its rhythmic spin. Steve settled at his desk, glanced at the mountain of emails awaiting his attention, and then pause...

Steakhouse Restaurant Story

As I stepped into STK Steakhouse, a wave of misgivings washed over me. The atmosphere was a curious blend, artworks mimicking both a nail salon and a strip club—sequined walls clashed with cheap neon lights that cast an unsettling glow. I glanced at the hostesses, who sported an array of bad tattoos, some peeking from beneath their short skirts, the kind that made you wonder about the life choices that led them here. Their manners? Let’s just say they could use a refresher on basic customer service. While waiting for my table—an agonizingly drawn-out few minutes in a sea of mismanaged chaos—I sat down on one of the faux-leather chairs that really needed retirement. The peeling white vinyl was something you’d expect to see in a rundown diner, not a steakhouse that charged more for a meal than my entire grocery bill for the week. Noticing the grime at the corners of the table, I wondered how much I was really spending for this experience. Soon, we were seated, and I tried to shake off my...

When I Worked At Pizza Hut

It was a brisk Monday evening when I stepped into the fluorescent-lit world of Pizza Hut for my first shift, feeling a blend of nervous excitement and youthful determination. I had just turned sixteen and was eager to earn some extra cash for a new video game console. Though it was merely a part-time gig, the thought of being a part of a team, any team, thrilled me. Little did I know how quickly this dream would crumble. The first day passed in a blur of flour-dusted counters and the intoxicating scent of melting cheese and sizzling pepperoni. I was assigned to the back of the kitchen, a section that pulsed with life and chaos. The dishwasher was my station, and I quickly learned that the flurry of orders and dishes was relentless. Glasses, plates, and pans came flying at me like a barrage of flak, each dirty dish begging for my attention. By day two, I could feel the telltale signs of a cold creeping in. My throat was scratchy, and an exhausting fatigue weighed on me as I scrubbed and...

The Super Tribe

The Guardians of the Hands In the vast and mystical terrains of Africa where sun-kissed savannas blend seamlessly with the icy expanse of the Antarctic, a hidden tribe known as the Hand Tribe thrived in the shadows of time. Legends spoke of their supernatural gifts, each unique power intricately woven into the very fabric of their hands. Some could summon the winds, while others healed with just a mere touch. The elders of the tribe warned of the dangers that their powers could pose in the hands of the unworthy. For centuries, the Hand Tribe maintained their secret through a series of carefully woven myths, residing in the valley of Olumara, obscured from prying eyes by nature's protective embrace. Here, beneath the canopy of intricate trees and the blanket of stars, the tribe was a blend of cultures, languages, and beliefs—a microcosm of humanity itself. They lived harmoniously, with a collective conscience that guided their powers toward acts of kindness and healing. However, w...

Thursday

Thursday began like any other day for James Johnson. The sun peeked through the blinds of his cramped apartment, the smell of burnt toast wafting from the kitchen where Trina was fiddling with her fitness app. But when his boss called him into the office, the day quickly spiraled into an uncomfortable chaos. “James,” his boss said, eyes narrowed, “we caught you on camera. You’re fired for stealing supplies.” The words felt like needles pricking his confidence. Supplies? He had only taken a couple of pens and a stapler—how was that stealing? As he walked out of the dimly lit office with a box containing what little he could salvage from his desk, dread pooled in his stomach. Rent was due on Saturday, and the sting of being unemployed loomed like a shadow over his head. Trina would undoubtedly launch into one of her “I told you so” tirades, and he cringed at the thought of her relentless nagging. It was by noon that James’s phone buzzed, pulling him out of his spiral of self-pity. ...

Animal Planet

In the year 2045, the world had reached a crescendo of technology and humanity's connection to nature had deepened. Cities thrived with towering skyscrapers, lush vertical gardens, and automated systems that kept parks pristine. People often found themselves lost in their screens, oblivious to the simple wonders of life that thrived just outside their doors. But it was in this lull that mankind would face its most staggering revelation. It began as the usual hum of daily life, punctuated by strange occurrences. Pets acted oddly, showing signs of intelligence beyond the normal bounds of animal behavior. A dog named Max had suddenly begun arranging his toys in elaborate patterns, while Mia the cat intercepted signals from the Wi-Fi network as if she were deciphering an ancient language. These were small oddities that sparked momentary curiosity but soon faded from the daily concerns of life. But then one Friday, the skies darkened in a peculiar manner. A cosmic storm, unlike any we...

Retail Tales: Employees Get Fired Or Quit All The Time

Where I worked in retail employees came and went constantly. It wasn't just regular employees that left constantly, the managers left just as fast as the other employees.  The company was horrible. They wanted you to dedicate your life to a retail store. That seems ridiculous. I'm not going to be available 24 hours a day for a retail job or any other job for that matter.

Belk at the Mall

Image
I always thought the exterior of Belk at our mall was cool. It's like a stadium mixed with a mansion, mixed with a castle. I rarely shop at Belk, but it's cool to browse around.  I'm very surprised they are still in business. They always seem to have an excessive amount of employees working when I go in there. I don't recall having any bad experiences there  I've caught a bunch of cabs from that spot. Belk during Christmas is cool. It really makes you feel like it's Christmas time.

Mall Entrance Memories

Image
This is the entrance by the foodcourt at the mall. I remember when this part of the mall wasn't there. It's been there at least 8 years but I still refer to it as the new wing of the mall.  The foodcourt is better than it used to be I hope. I remember when they had rats running around. I ate at a restaurant in the foodcourt once in the last 8 year's.  I have more memories of the mall before the new wing was built. They got rid of Sears for this. I really liked Sears. I've done a bunch of business in Sears over the years. I still haven't got over it. I purchased electronics, coats, shoes, suits, clothes, belts, wallets, bikes, workout equipment, hats, tires, car batteries, watches necklaces, toys, children clothing and other supplies, washer and dryer, I got my taxes done there all my life.... Sears was my spot! And it got torn down and replaced by a grocery store and a Dick's Sporting goods. Every time I go in Dick's Sporting goods at the mall I'm...

Retail Tales: The Schedule Got On My Nerves

When I worked in retail the schedules were horrible. I worked some weird shifts. The night crew and the closing shift was the worst shifts. Overnight shift was hard work, stocking shelves and doing special projects. During a remodel I did the night crew for months. The reason the closing shift was bad was because you never leave when the schedule says. Schedule says 9:30pm and we always leave at 10 pm or 11pm. It got on my nerves. They would lock the front door so we couldn't leave. Most of the time after 9:30 pm was just standing at the front door waiting for the manager to let you out. The manager in the back office supposedly to their nightly duties. I don't like to be locked in and having to wait for someone to let me out.  The 4am shift wasn't rough. Getting up at 3am to get ready for work is rough. I knew people who had worked that 4am shift for 10+ years and they loved it. I was always envious of them when they got off work at 1pm.I wasn't envious of the time the...

Donating To the World

Do you ever see those videos on YouTube were someone randomly give a stranger money.I really enjoy those videos. What would hurt is if I found out most of the videos were fake. Hopefully they are not. Where are they getting this money. I also wonder can they write it off on their taxes as donations. I always wished that I could be the person receiving the money. I wouldn't want to be on camera.I still would like to be the person receiving the money, but now I'd rather be the person giving it away. They can't have to many money problems if they can give it away. Where do they get the money they give away? Is it their money? If they all are real this are a very good thing their doing. Maybe soon I'll be financially blessed.

Movie Car Chases

Have you ever seen a car chase in real life?Car chases in the movies look cool, but never happen. Acton movies love a chaotic car chase scene.

Kevin Hart

I don't find Kevin Hart to be funny. I do understand why people think he's funny, I just don't. I do like most of the movies he's in ok. I wonder how he really is in real life.

Stand-up Comedy

I find most stand up comedy interesting not funny.I like comedy movies, but I've never been much of a stand up comedy fan.

Sleepy

Image
I sometimes don't sleep well the night before my work week starts. I think it's because body wants or needs more time off. I don't like being sleepy. It's annoying.

Peace

Image
People want peace yet but some are entertained by violence. Right now we all should be praying for peace.
